Child and Young Person Protection Policy

Policy Statement

Otago Youth Wellness Trust (OYWT) is committed to the care, wellbeing and best interests of tamariki and Rangatahi as our first and paramount priority.

Our commitment is to ensure that the safety of the child or young person is paramount in responding to allegations of abuse. The policy provides guidance on how to respond to concerns about the wellbeing of a child.  The Otago Youth Wellness Trust is committed to ensuring all staff are able to identify the signs and symptoms of potential abuse and neglect and are able to take appropriate action in response.

The Otago Youth Wellness Trust’s designated person for child protection (Practice Manager, Team Leader) are responsible to provide advice and support to staff and for the maintenance and annual review of this policy, in addition to carrying out the responsibilities outlined in this policy.

Staff will not assume responsibility beyond their level of their experience and training.  OYWT commits to ensuring staff have access to the training they require.
